Isla Tortuga is an uninhabited island in the Gulf of Nicoya—that’s on the Pacific coast about an hour west of here. They took a bus to Puntarenas, then a boat (a large tri-maran) to the island. While the crew prepared lunch on the beach, the passengers could swim or sun or snorkel. The boat was packed with everything the tourists would need while they were there—including beach umbrellas and portable toilets. Marie and Joyce opted to go snorkeling and saw lots of brightly colored tropical fish.
